seventeen years ago...

i married my supercop.
big, white, puffy sleeves and all.
don't judge...it was the early 90's
i would NEVER pick out that dress again.
seriously..my sleeves are as big as my head!
i was 19, craig was 25.
some days it seems like yesterday.
and some days not.
back then, it seemed like an extravagant wedding.
by today's standard, it wouldn't even be close.

our nephew matthew was our ring bearer...he was 18 months old.
now he's graduating from high school....
ugh!
and our flower girl is getting ready to be a momma.
the two of them  make me think i should be old.
and i'm not...at least i don't feel old.
ok, maybe some days.

look at what i made my poor friends wear...
matching big, puffy sleeves, only this time in emerald green.
...and check out that mess of green tulle on their heads.
my apologies girls...
i don't know what i was thinking.

....i guess it doesn't really matter what we all wore.
what mattered is that i married the guy i loved... still love.
even more than i did then...17 years ago today.
happy anniversary craig!!
love ya!

the dog who blogs: foxes, raccoons & bears oh my!

miley mae douglass

i am 1/2 italian greyhound &
1/2 wiener dog, so i am fast.
i have the bestest family
and the bestest friends.
follow my blog (most) every
monday and see the world
through my big brown eyes.

i got to do a lot of fun stuff this past week.
i got to hang out with my homey brayden and kick it at his house.
he feeds me lots of treats...he's so smart, and knows what i like.
they even had a trash can down where i could reach it,
so of course i took full advantage of that one.
thanks for letting me chill at the fox hole!
then i went to jojo's house and learned this.
check out my new skills...
i had a serious beat on some raccoons.
so i decided to see if i could get to them.
momma was not to happy with me.
when she turned her back...i shot up the tree.
somehow while she was screaming at me to come down,
she managed to capture my wicked tree climbing abilities.
i really think she was proud of me, but didn't want to admit it.
i was as high as those houses across the street.
i tried to go higher, but momma started screaming again.
how in the world was i supposed to sneak up on those raccoons
with all the ruckus going on down there?
i bet even that cat can't climb this high!
...no raccoons today, but i will try again.
i'll bet a certain cat on it.
when we went back inside i played house with my little friend skyler.
she made me my own bed and fed me cake.
so i gave her lots of kisses, cause i'm awesome like that.
i had to share the house with a big stuffed bear.
i'll bet he's got some mad climbing skills too.

oh and i almost forgot, i went and got my teeth cleaned.
you should see how pearly white my choppers are now, thanks to
dr. karen and her assistants.
she always spoils me when i go there...she says i am her favorite,
but i'm supposed to keep that a secret.
so don't tell anyone ok?

ok, time to wrap it up for this week my peeps.

i bought a round-trip flight to california for less than what this pillow cost!
CRAZY!!!

i {heart} word art.

i made a little something to spruce up my wall space for
valentines day.
...and it all started with inspiration from here.
and one of these desk writing thingies.
i'm sure they have a name.
i just don't know what it is...hence, writing thingy.
i found it at the thrift store for 50 cents.
i first started by tearing off the hideous fabric sides.
then i made up with my printer and printed all sorts of words that
described all things valentines day.
i used multiple sizes and fonts.
i just played around with fonts til i found ones i liked.
i then cut the words out in strips.
glue each word down with mod podge and a foam brush.
if your out, go steal your neighbors brand new jar.
i started with the biggest words first and then started placing them
randomly til i liked it.
i used my pampered chef scraper to smooth out any air bubbles.
i left enough of the white paper on the words that were up against
the edges and wrapped the extra around to make them look clean.
i just kept adding words until the whole thing was covered.
when i had the entire board covered.  i gave it a smooth coat of mod podge on top to seal it all.
then just let it dry.
i will say it is a little time consuming...and messy.
but totally worth it i think.
you could totally customize it for any theme too.
i think i may cover the back side of this one with a different theme.
maybe one i could have up all year long.
i think i will give my printer a rest for a while and start that one next month.

quiet.

it's so quiet around here today....

something is missing....
miss miley is at the vet.
she loves to go there.
they give out treats...and kisses.
she squeals with so much delight that it becomes a little embarrassing.
she loves her dr. karen very much.
she is getting her teeth cleaned today.
you should know by now how vain she is.
always primping, just in case.
...and if you know me, you should totally be impressed
that i was up this early :)

easy mini mixer meatloaf.

if your like this little guy and looking for some easy winter grub.
then this is a good recipe for you.
unless of course you don't eat meat.
because then i can't help you.
they don't call it meatloaf for nothing.

i use my kitchen-aid mixer to make this recipe.
YES...
gather your ingredients.
some how the 2 pounds of ground beef didn't make it to the photo shoot.
must have been one lazy cow in it's former life.
this is how much you need of everything.

2 cups ketchup
2 tbl. spicy brown mustard
2 tbl. brown sugar
2 pounds ground beef
2 large eggs, beaten
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1 cup plain dry bread crumbs
(sometimes i use stove-top stuffing mix if i am out of bread crumbs)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
cooking spray
place ketchup, mustard & brown sugar in your mixer.
i use the flat beater attachment.
beat on speed 2 for 30 seconds
(just so the brown sugar dissolves)
take out 1 cup of the mixture and set aside.
then add all the remaining ingredients to the mixer bowl.
(i'm guessing your smart enough to not throw in the can of cooking spray)
my guess is your mixer would never be the same.
mix on speed 2 again for about 2 minutes.
it does all the work for you!!
divide into 6 equal portions.
i do mine like this.
then take each section and form a rounded loaf shape.
give it a long dimple on top.
place them on a generously coated baking dish with edges
you'll see in a minute why you need edges,
unless your into cleaning your oven
after every meal.
bake at 375*
for 40 minutes.
when it is done, take it out and spoon your reserve ketchup mixture
on each loaf...pop it back in for an additional 10 minutes.
now do you see why you need edges :)
looks yummy, tastes yummy!!
the black stuff is just burnt hamburger grease.
(promise)
better to be on the pan than in the food.

...and you thought your kitchen-aid was just for baking.
