the dog who blogs: it's been a little ruff.

miley mae douglass

i have the bestest family
and the bestest friends.
follow my blog every
monday and see the world
through my big brown eyes.

this week i've been a little disconbobulated.
i know, it's a big word...get used to it people.
i AM THAT SMART!
my momma got rid of my favorite perch in the whole house.
why? why would she do that?

i could see everything from there.
it's not fair i tell ya...it's just not FAIR!!

i could see....
the raccoons.
the mailman.
nixon and tator tot.  (neighbor cats!)
and of course all those pesky squirrels.
she said i will have something new and better soon.
she better be right or i'm tracking down the guy who came
and got them, and i'm taking them back.
"hey guy who took my perch...i saw you drive off from the window,
i have your license plate number...i know where to find you"
even that cat was a little ticked off about the whole thing.

speaking of that cat,
look where i found her!

oh no she didN'T!!
that is MY box!!!
M-I-N-E mine!!!

just like my perch.
M-I-N-E mine.

and my stuffed squirrel.
and this blog.
M-I-N-E mine.
she is always trying to sneak up on me while i'm posting.
it's just wrong i tell ya, wrong!!!

she THINKS it is time i let her give this blog thing a whirl.
she doesn't get it....
and why should she?...she's a cat.
and last time i checked, CAT does NOT rhyme with BLOG.

it doesn't roll off your tongue... like say, "the dog who blogs" does.
am i right people?  can i get a big AMEN!!
so unless she can come up with a clever name...FOR-GET-IT!
i guess we will just have to see how resourceful she can be.
but i'm definitely not holding my dog breath anytime soon!!

until next time my peeps,

MILEY

saturYEAH!!

today is our neighborhood fall block party.  woo hoo!!
yesterday i spent part of the day cooking and baking for it.
which has left my kitchen a disaster.

doing the dishes is a yucky job.
even with a dishwasher, it's one of my non-favorite things to do.
AND because we have mandatory recycling, i have to clean out all the cans too.
i get it...i like to be somewhat GREEN, but i really hate washing out cans.
and really, just how much am i really being green,
if i'm wasting all that water washing out cans.  huummm.
maybe i can magically make all those dishes disappear since i'm
wearing my tinkerbell shoes with my cute apron.

i'm a messy baker, so the apron's a must.
speaking of baking....i made pumpkin caramel cookies.
i can't stand the taste of pumpkin, which is precisely why i made them.
cause i won't eat what i don't like.  :)

i'm gonna be lazy and just give ya a link to the recipe.... RIGHT HERE!!

i made my dad and hubby try them out since i wouldn't.
they said they liked them...i hope they weren't just being nice and they really do taste ok.

i am also making the worlds best potato soup (according to me anyway) too.
it's called  "terrific potato soup"  and it is terrific, i promise!!
i won't be so lazy this time.
i will actually give you the recipe.
plus, i didn't get it online.
so i can't be lazy and just give you a link, like before.
ready.
set.
here ya go.
terrific potato soup.
5 lbs potatoes diced up
1 family size cream of chicken soup
i family size swanson chicken broth
1 small onion-diced (i have to practically puree mine though, to hide them
from my onion hating hubby)
tsp each of salt and pepper.
throw all of this in your crockpot and set to low all day.
(...or crank it up to high, if you are a little short on time :)
this is what it will look like at this stage.

then, 45 min prior to serving (this is what makes it fabulous btw)
add in
1 pkg cream cheese-softened   oohhhh
1/2 block of velveeta cheese     ahhhh
1 lb crumbled bacon (i buy the pre-cooked and throw it in the mini chopper)
stir, baby stir.

that's it.   POTATO SOUP PERFECTION!!!
if you really want to impress people, serve it in a bread bowl.
or not.
whatever.

let me guess...your waiting to see a picture of the finished soup?
sorry, not gonna happen.
at least not today.

i'll show when i post the actual block party pics.
promise.
i have bigger and better things to do right now anyway.
like seeing how far these babies will fly,
for our pumpkin launching activity.

hobby lobby hurts my brain...in a good way.

does this ever happen to you....
you walk into hobby lobby and immediately you feel overwhelmed?
i never know where to start first.
i never seem to have a plan for what i really need...which is VERY dangerous :)
the christmas stuff seemed crazy this time...it was everywhere.

they have SO MUCH merchandise, it makes you want to scream.
in a good way of course.

i always seem to be drawn to anything peppermint looking.
maybe it's because i was a candy cane in a play when i was little.
maybe it's because it's red & white and looks like giant candy. :)
it was like i was in a super happy peppermint candy store.
like willy wonka...but no chocolate, just peppermints!
ahhh.

seriously though...how could you ever decide.
they make it  I M P O S S I B L E  !!!!!
but my mouth seemed quite minty fresh after i left that isle.

i loved the silver isle too.

and the black one.
i really wanted these trees....really bad.
but they weren't on sale.  boo hoo.

but this was...

so it happily made it's way into my cart, then my car, then my house.
btw...this is just a figure of speech, i don't want it to snow!
it had so much glitter on it, that i'm sure i left a glittery trail
all the way from the store to my house.
i kinda have a thing for glitter, if ya haven't noticed.
everything just looks  100 times better with glitter.
it's glitterific!!!
trust me, if i could find a way to glitter up my blog i would...i'm still looking for a glitter widget, surely it has to exist!!!

if hobby lobby can have this many ornaments. (this is only one isle of like 5)
then there has to be a widget that sprinkles glitter all over your blog.

i will find it.
someday.
i will.

until then, it's back to the crazy ornament isle.
when i saw this one, i immediately thought of my neighbor meg .

cute mini cupcakes with sprinkles on a tiny little tray.
it's totally right up her alley.

and these little police cars were cute too,  ya know, if you aren't a criminal.

and these giant snowflakes...just the way i like them.  FAKE!!

cause, snowflakes = snow, which  = cold, and  we all know that amy does not like cold.
i've been really happy lately that we've been having wonderful weather around here.
would it be too much to ask for it to stick around, let's say, til spring??
probably.
but it never hurts to ask.

if i had a magic wand...

i wish...life had rollover minutes.
i wish...my house would stay clean for more than 2 days.
i wish...my washing machine would stop walking into the hallway.
i wish...it was always 75 degrees outside.
i wish...my dvr had more memory.
i wish...my leaves would magically bag themselves.
i wish...taco tico was open 24 hours a day.
i wish...my computer would hold more photos.
i wish...that lightbulbs never burned out.
i wish...the kc chiefs would win more than one game.
i wish...i hadn't put all the pumpkin guts down the disposal...and have to call star drain 30 min later.
i wish...everyday was payday.
i wish...you could call a business and get a real person.
i wish...grandma's lived forever.
i wish...i didn't scrape my bumper every time i pulled in my driveway.
i wish...jon & kate would go away.
i wish...stores wouldn't put out christmas stuff before halloween.
i wish...junk food was good for you.
i wish...curling iron burns didn't resemble giant hickey's :)
i wish...everyday was a good hairday.
i wish...the creepy burger king guy would stop giving me nightmares.
i wish...same as previous, but insert the creepy dairy queen mouth.
i wish...people knew that turn signals do exist.
i wish...lost didn't have only one season left.
i wish...shopping at flea markets, was my job.
i wish...no one would ever stop wishing.  although i must stop today or this post
could go on and on forever. :)

the dog who blogs: the hoodie.

miley mae douglass

i have the bestest family
and the bestest friends.
follow my blog every
monday and see the world
through my big brown eyes.

this computer of momma's has been having technical difficulties.
something about too many pictures.
so i said i would keep this short.
plus, to tell you the truth...i'm a little tuckered out from
all that playing last week with my buddy bacon.
(he emailed me by the way...he misses me.)
i miss you too bacon.
we'll have to kick it sometime in the next few weeks ok?

it occurred to me, that i haven't shown you my favorite
piece of outerwear...the hoodie.
it can be worn just about anywhere.
this is my girly one.

it's my outfit of choice when we cruise to the biscuit bank.
it has that certain "flair" that always catches the eye of other drivers.

hey buddy, i know i'm cute but stay in your own lane...would ya!

when i'm just lounging around doing yardwork and such...i wear this one.

those people at the orscheln store were pretty smart to make hoodies with their logo on them.
i really should get some sort of compensation for advertising for them.
a big bucket of biscuits.
a new tug toy.
maybe even a fancy new collar.
SOMETHING!!!
i think i'm gonna go call them right now and put my fly negotiating skills to work.

speaking of negotiations...
i should of put "no ridiculous costumes" in my contract.

i mean seriously, would you like to walk around with a ginormous lobster on your back??? uugh!

wild halloween fun.

halloween turned out to be a little on the wild side this year.

"where the wild things are"....they were on my porch.  how fun is that!

susan went to a lot of work this year.

she made a far-out hippie, with the cutest little frog by her side.

i was tinkerbelle...but you can just call me tink :)

every tinkerbelle needs a frog by her side too...
and every frog needs a miley to try and steal his sucker.

miley gave out lots of tricks rather than treats.
i don't know how many kids ended up getting ambush kisses,
but it was more than a few.
one little girl just kept kissing her back.
it was pretty cute.

the weather was great this year.
thanks goodness, because i wasn't sure how i was going to winterize my tink outfit.

even 100 pounds of glitter doesn't keep you warm.
and yes, as i predicted...everything in my house has glitter on it now.
even my laptop keyboard is glimmering as i type this.
at least no matter how dusty things get, they will always sparkle!

here are some of my cute...and funny (just wait) trick or treaters.

cutest daphne ever...poor scooby got left at home.

and check out this adorable candy corn witch.

sweet katie and her momma would come and walk miley
when we were in maine.
speaking of miley....

(seriously, what did i do to deserve this?)

(umm, does this lobster make me look fat?)

my favorite little farm girls showed up like this.

what a combo...joe dirt and a pretty purple witch.
joe dirt was sporting a killer mullet.
"business in the front..party in the back"
(her words!!!)
the little witches skirt had flashing lights in it.
it was cool!!

here's some of the neighborhood gang.

that little giraffe i'm holding is our newest neighbor baby, gretchen jane.
i didn't want to give her back, cause she was so warm and snuggly
(sean: ghoul, annie: a very fierce lion, lawson: cowboy,
sophie: witch, talby: witch, london: yoda, jenn: witch)
here's that ornery red headed cowboy.

he was ready to go rope him up some candy!

my jack-o-lanterns literally took 10 minutes.

i always have to have a spooky looking one.

my dad thought this one was supposed to look like it
had a head injury...
i was like, umm it's a mummy pumpkin.
he was like..oh, now i see it.
(it must be the paramedic in him)

i hope everyone had a super halloween.

...and i hope you all remembered to set your clocks back.
as much as i enjoy the extra hour,
i would rather just keep it the way it is.
i can't stand it getting dark at 5...ugh!
