catching up...part 2

MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!
*********************************************************

so i got my Christmas presents a little early this year....like um, 4 weeks ago.
they technically weren't "Christmas" presents, but it felt like it.
first of all...

my super sweet husband got up at 2am on black friday, stood in the freezing cold
and bought me these!!  woo hoo!!!

is it possible to love a big mechanical box...let alone two!!!??
YES!!!
they do everything i need them to do...except fold and put stuff away.
wouldn't that be nice!

i found myself watching the first few loads like a tv... :)

even craig has commented several times how awesome they are.
i couldn't agree more..thank. you. craig.

and the next day....these showed up.  double woo hoo!!!

they came much earlier than i was told they would.
that usually never happens.
my sofa finally got some friends.

besides me, someone else was very happy also.

she jumped in one the minute the delivery people sat it down.
i think she thought they brought them just for her.

maybe this means i can take back they stuffed gorilla i got her for Christmas....

enjoy the holidays.
enjoy the weather...umm blizzard outside for us.
enjoy your family.
enjoy the food.
but more than anything...enjoy the day that  JESUS CHRIST WAS BORN!

catching up...part 1

time to play a little catch up with some blog posts.
they have been sitting in cyberspace, half finished.
patiently waiting their turn.

i put the Christmas tree up 2 weeks before  thanksgiving.
by far the earliest i have ever done that.
last year i didn't even bother...since we were here for Christmas.

excuse me while i wipe my happy tears....i heart laguna beach...i miss you pacific ocean.
ahem....
this year, it made it up in record time.

i used to never put actual ornaments on it.
just lights. baby's breath. pinecones. and bows.
i wanted it perfect.
like in a magazine.
now, not so much.
now i fill it up with lots of different things.
things that have meaning.
things i like.
and things with glitter... lots of it.

this is the breakdown of our tree:
25 % glittered & blingy things.
25 % police related things.
45 % animal related things.
2  % hairdresser things.
2 % actual Christmas themed things that don't fit into above categories.
1 % disappointment....you'll see what i mean further down :)
hmm....that doesn't seem fair.
i guess being an animal or police officer has it's perks when it comes
to Christmas ornaments.

now those are some ruby red Christmas lips!
and no tree is complete without one of these lurking under it.

remember the 1 % disappointment.

it's hanging in the back.
i'm afraid if santa see's it he will laugh and leave us nothing.
maybe i should of asked him for a winning season.
my guess is, even santa couldn't pull that off.

********************************************

we actually got the outside lights up before thanksgiving also.
not as early as the tree, but early enough to have perfect weather.
craig gets the honor of lighting the roof and peak.
i get up there only to hold the ladder.

he multi-tasks by cleaning out the gutters at the same time.
we bought LED lights 5 yrs ago and this is the first year we had a small section
that decided not to work.
it's on the porch railing in the greenery, and i really could care less.
in years past it would of drove me crazy...
but this year i must have got wacked on the head by the zen fairy.

i made these giant fake peppermint candies last year.
they are made from heavy duty paper plates.
i used the dessert size, but you could make ginormous ones with the dinner plate size.

they were super easy....
paint on your design.
add a little red glitter glue to make it pop.
coat it with spray glitter.
glue both side together.
wrap in cellophane and tie cute ribbon on both ends.
voila!
you only have to paint one side since that's all that will be showing.

i use them as garland around my front door.

i've had complete strangers on my porch looking at them.
wondering if i made them...and how i did it.
so far they've all been nice :)

i bought this cute rudolph at a auction a couple of years ago.
he used to live in a drinking establishment downtown.
now he lives with us.
after his former life, he must think we are really boring.

...and you would think with all these pictures that i would have at least one of the whole house
with all the lights and decorations up...but alas my zen self doesn't.
but i do have pictures of the inside decorations....well some of them anyway.

harri staked out her territory under the tinsel trees the minute i put them out.

see all the me's reflecting in the ornaments?

so there ya go.... a Christmas blog post on steriods.
oh...and i almost forgot to mention, miley let me use her normal blog day so i could
get caught up on my posts.
she will be back next week, if not sooner.
she say's i owe her big time...
she suggested a nice big bone would do the trick,
or locking the cat outside for the night.
we went with the bone :)

...this one i thought was great.

happy wednesday.

the dog who blogs: craft project

miley mae douglass

i have the bestest family
and the bestest friends.
follow my blog every
monday and see the world
through my big brown eyes.

today i'm gonna show you my latest craft project.
that's right people, this pup can craft too.
this one was especially fun because for the very first time,
i got to use the oven.
supervised of course. (momma made me put that in)
i could of totally done it by myself, but you know how momma's are.

so i bet your thinking i whipped up some dog biscuits or some Christmas goodies.
nope. ( i totally could though...you should see me run the mixer!)
i made a new i.d. tag for my necklace...ok, collar.
it is so cool!!
you make it like those shrinky dink thingies.
remember those?
of course you do...i know all of my readers have good rememberer's
i know your all on the edge of your seats wanting to know how i did it.
so here we go.

first, you have to go to walgreen's and buy the kit...only $3, very easy on the wallet.
since momma still won't let me drive, i let her take me to pick it out.
i picked the cute paw print design, but there's lots to choose from.

it's a good idea to lay out all the stuff to make sure your not missing anything.
i splurged a little and bought 2 kits, so i could make one for cousin lucky for Christmas.
(sorry duke, i wanted to do one for you too, but you have too many addresses & phone numbers)
it starts out really big so you can write all your info on it.

you should also read the directions carefully too.

that cat was hanging out under the table.
i told her to go away or i would snip off her whiskers...
just kidding, i would totally never do that...well....uhmm...

then you put it in the oven on a dog biscuit sheet @ 325* for 3 minutes.

i am so glad our oven has a window so i could see what it was doing.
it sorta looked funny while it was shrinking, it said in the instructions that
it would curl up while it was shrinking...and it certainly did. haha, it looks silly.

look, it's all done!

pretty neat, huh?

...and in case you were wondering, yes i remembered to use an oven mitt.
i wasn't gonna risk messing up my freshly manicured paws.
i had to let it sit for 5 minutes to cool off before i could add the clasp and try it on.

this one's for lucky...i sure hope he doesn't have access to the web or i'm busted.
he lives in southern california, so that's why i had to block out his phone number.
i'm sure he doesn't want the puparatzzi to track him down.

i had momma take my picture so you could see it on.

now, if i ever get lost..(like that would ever happen) some nice person could look
at my pretty new tag and take me back home.
hum... maybe they would let me drive.

til next week my peeps,

MILEY

cold & happy mail.

i woke up yesterday with a cold.
one.
big.
nasty.
cold.
despite all the hand sanitizer, hot liquids, & not touching anything
at the doctor's office.
it. didn't. help.
why. why. why.
cold's make me whiney  & cranky, can you tell?
it's the last thing i needed. ugh!!
i almost didn't get the mail yesterday cause i was so tired,
and i didn't want to see another bill.
but i'm so glad i did.
no bills. YEAH!
just this cute little box.
all for me!
it's just what this cranky girl needed .
thanks kandis!!

 kandis
is my ornament exchange partner.
she lives in montana.
i can't even imagine living there.
to. darn. cold.
she said she would melt if she lived in kansas. :)
go check out her blog here.
she has the cutest little girl.
a sweet little princess miracle named karlee.
she sent me TWO ornaments
and a wonderful christmas card.
woo hoo.

this beautiful angel holding baby jesus
and this adorable metal snowman.
my tree is now complete.

beki from pamperingbeki hosted the ornament exchange.

she was a brave woman.
there were a ton of names on the list,
and she had to partner up all of them,
and then send out hundreds of emails.
i bet she went through several pots of coffee
and gained some grey hairs.
so go visit her and show her some love.

here is the front of the ornament i made to send to kandis and her family.

 and this is the back.

i knew i wanted to do a glass charm of some sort, and my friend
susan came up with the  idea of "J.O.Y."

i got a surprise thank you email from kandis yesterday.
it made this cold-ridden girl feel so much better.
THANK. YOU. KANDIS.
you made my day.
oh, and so did this...

:)
