Christmas wrap up.

opening gifts with my side of the family.
 my parents.
he scored on the under armour.

miley was having a great time with her new cousin izzy.
what's Christmas without a snuggie?
i think everyone who wears them, looks like monks.
a quick family photo of my brothers brood before we took off for our next destination.
it would've been nice if i had noticed the childs head growing out of my brothers before i took the picture...

***********************************************************************************
we spent the next few days with craigs family.
our ring bearer...now a college man.
miley is grandpa's designated kitchen helper.
aka..the pre-rinser
we had brunch at a B & B just outside of town.
the food was wonderful, but the best part were these guys.
lewis the 6 month old miniature donkey.
 some very furry cows...
lewis looked just like donkey from shrek!  he loved to chase the sheep and show off his bucking skills.
a red chippy barn...
it would look really nice in my back yard.

we had a very good Christmas...lot's of food, family and fun.
and now i'm looking forward to an even better 2011.
one that hopefully includes the chiefs in the superbowl.

Merry CHRISTmas.

"For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called
Wonderful,
Counsellor,
The mighty God,
The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6

this is why i LOVE my honda.

because it can fit a 6 foot 2 inch long awesome flea market find perfectly!

any longer and it would probably be in someone else' home
we had to take a couple of the feet off, drop the seats, push the passenger seat into the dash board, make tonya ride backwards and laying down, but hey, it was totally worth it!
i had to seat belt the front seat back so i could see out of the side mirror...the rear view was completely blocked.
when the four guys finished loading it, tonya tried to figure out how she was gonna ride home since there were no seats available.
we were laughing so hard, a woman came over to see what was so funny.
she took one look at tonya and started laughing too.
she said she had made her friend ride home with a screen door on her head once.
this is how i drove back to kansas...
i think i made 2 lane changes the whole way back...and never drove over the speed limit!
the things we do for bargains.
and it was a BIG BARGAIN! $85 bucks.
and it was exactly the size i needed for the back of my breakfast nook.
it was like it was made just for that space.
and i desperately needed some extra storage space for big platters and stuff you don't use that often but don't wanna have to store in the basement.

i wasn't fond of the criss crossy things on the knobs, so i took them off.
much better with out.
everyone who has seen it, can't believe it really fit into my cr-v.
i almost can't believe it either.

since i had limited space, i only came home with a few more things.
all the gold, will eventually be white.
i finally found a vintage cake plate with a cover i could afford.
and the rest of the stuff is Christmas gifts,
so i can't show you.
...sorry.

girls weekend.

a couple weekends ago i headed back down to dallas for a girls weekend with my bestie tonya.
i love it that we don't let a 6 hour car ride keep us from getting together fairly often.
since tonya's hubby sean is working in london for a couple months, craig stayed home.

so it was just the girls!

we crammed a ton of stuff into the weekend.
and trust me, there was never a dull moment!
i don't think i have laughed so hard and so much like that in a long time.

we started the weekend off with a trip to my favorite flea market, first monday's
the weather was awesome for december...70 degrees!
when i left kansas, it was barely 30.
as always, the market was packed with amazing stuff.
they always have the best Christmas stuff.
so, so pretty.
so, so out of my price range.
each piece was $30.  eeks.
i am totally making one of these pillows.
along with a big a & c.
i should of just bought this...
you would think i would have learned by now.
if you love it that much, and it's reasonable in price, buy it.

on saturday we headed down to the harry hines district in downtown dallas.
totally rad stores during the day,
totally shady at night.
we hit all the fabric stores so tonya could find some curtain fabrics.
if you can't find it here..they don't make it!
we worked up a big appetite and decided to check out this little taco hut across the street.

a word to the wise...
if you are ever on harry hines and come across this taco shack.
immediately turn around and run!
run, run, run!
i don't think whatever they were serving could even be classified as food.
i will spare you the details so you won't hurl all over your keyboard, but let me just say
that the words "pork knuckle & burrito" should never be used together.

moving on...
after a lot of gum chewing (haha tonya!) we checked out some consignment stores in the area.
this one even has a blog.
click here to check it out.
tonya came home with this sparkly Christmas tree.
there were so many neat stores in that area.
we will definitely be going back when we have more time.

later that evening we caught up with some friends and headed out on the town.
we started with dessert first.
hello, you had me at red velvet.
oh my, was it ever yummy!
we then headed down to the bishop arts district.
they had it all decked out for the holidays.
we had some fun in the vintage clothing shop.
all the stores were serving snacks and drinks...
i found this jewelry Christmas tree in the vintage store.
i need to make one of these too.
we hung out in the chocolate store sampling goodies.
we had dinner at a fancy restaurant.
and then finished the night off the way we started, with more dessert.
you realize there's 1000 calories for just looking at it, right?
the army men crack me up.

to work off all that dessert, we headed back to the flea market on sunday.
a cold front had moved in and this time we had to bust out the coats, hats, scarves and mittens!
but that has never stopped us before!
we are (i am) die hard shoppers!

wait until you see what i brought home with me...
